Green Lantern Movie Already In Trouble?!?

It turns out that due to the Australian Dollar rising the producers of the Green Lantern movie now don’t have enough money to go ahead with production. They say to hopefully have it sorted out within the next month so they can start shooting but for now i say well done DC for another movie blunder…the last movies that this happened to were Superman Returns and the Justice League movie…and look what happened to them.

Richard Donner Wants Geoff Johns Involved With Superman Re-vamp

News taken from MTV’s Splashpage states that Richard Donner wants Geoff Johns working on the next Superman flick. I personally have no problem with this news as Johns pretty much reinvented the DC universe and made smaller characters like Green Lantern, The Flash and Teen Titans all look like they can compete with the big three (being Supes, Bats and Won-Woman). The only problem i have with this is that i preferred earlier news (a month ago) about Mark Miller wanting to do Superman, he’d bring so much more to the project. But if Geoff Johns gets the go ahead you won’t see me crying.

WB Eyes Ryan Gosling for Green Lantern?

Find at SuperheroHype. Warner Bros have revealed there interest in getting Ryan Gosling in to play Hall Jordan aka The Green Lantern. He is best known for starring in The Notebook and to be perfectly honest i haven’t got a clue who he is as The Notebook is a chicks film and also i don’t know how good an actor he is but he looks nothing like Hal Jordan. Lets just hope he’s a very good actor.

The Blackest Night is coming!

Ok, im a big filthy nerd when it comes to the Green Lantern, especially now that other coloured corps have been introduced too…its not a typical storyline of one man on a quest for piece or one man on a quest for vengence. Its a group of people all with there’re own reasons for doing what they do.

The first seperate corps to be introduced was of course the Sinestro Corps with their yellow rings that feuled on fear. My favourite moment of this series was Batman fighting off the yellow ring that tried to recruit him into the Sinestro Corps.

Anyways, i’m getting off the subject now so i’ll swiftly move on to what i was saying. At the end of the Sinestro Corps you see a teaser for whats to come in the future and this is the image you see at the top of this post. Here’s what Wiki had to say on the subject:

The crossover was first mentioned at the conclusion of the Sinestro Corps War in Green Lantern #25. As the war between the Green Lantern and Sinestro Corps reaches its climax, the four Green Lanterns of Earth (Hal Jordan, Guy Gardner, John Stewart and Kyle Rayner) are told by the Guardians Ganthet and Sayd of the “Blackest Night” prophecy. According to the prophecy, the two existing Corps would be joined by five new ones, each driven by a specific emotion and empowered by a specific color of the spectrum, leading to an all-out war that would end up destroying the universe.

Shortly after the defeat of the Sinestro Corps, the Anti-Monitor is transported to an unspecified location. He is recognized by a dark voice that bids him rise. Too weak to resist or escape, he is engulfed by a Black Power Battery. The teaser proclaimed that “…the armies of fear and willpower must come together, because across the Universe, the dead will rise.” A rotted hand was shown coming out of the ground with a black ring on its finger.^[1] The symbol on the ring is of Green Lantern villain Black Hand.^[2]

Like Sinestro Corps War, The Blackest Night is based upon a story written by Alan Moore Tales of the Green Lantern Corps Annual #2 in the 1980s.^[3] Both Geoff Johns and Ethan Van Sciver have stated that The Blackest Night will be the third part of a Green Lantern trilogy that began with Rebirth and continued with Sinestro Corps War.^[4] In an interview with IGN, Johns stated that he has the monthly Green Lantern book plotted up until issue #55, which (presuming there are little or no delays in the book) would come out in May of 2010.^[5]

More details for the event are revealed in DC Universe #0, which also sets the stage for most of the DCU line in 2008-2009.^[6] DC Universe #0, which bridged the story between Countdown #1 and Final Crisis #1, depicts Green Lantern villain the Black Hand discovering the black power battery on a distant planet.

So there you have it my peeps…My first 2 guesses for which dead people are coming back as Black Lanterns are Elvis and Bruce Lee…killer combo. But if i was to be serious for a second then my money is on Connor Kent (Superboy) and Bart Allen (Impulse and later the Flash).
